PRAY FOR REIGN

All of life's ills and these digital thrills

Luca Brasi’s paparazzi

Before the world shut down completely i started on my journey of becoming a world famous concert photographer!!!! I was dumb excited to do my first ever show! It was Kevin Gates live at the James Brown Arena! I was super excited and crazy nervous. Exited because concert photography merges all of my loves! I’m a DJ by trade so you know I love music! And I love the art form and the processes of having a image in your head and capturing that image.

What I didn’t know when I got to the photo pit is that we only got 3 songs to get those perfect images!!! When the manager of the area told me that I was like …. FUUUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK , but I was very confident in my degree from YouTube university so I looked at the manager and said “not a problem!”

Gates hit the stage… I’m in the bathroom… shit. (no pun intended) I make a dash for the photo pit and I look on the stage and thankfully the DJ was just playing songs KG wasn’t gonna preform!

Relieved, I started to go through my checks

“Battery… check lens…check” ok let’s get it!

Kevin gates hits the stage I’m like “here we fucking go!!!!!!!!” I start snapping moving around trying to get the perfect composition while trying not to get in these folks who paid a lot of money to sit in the in the front row way !!!

By the time I hit my stride I get a tap on the shoulder … it’s the security guard … “that’s time” he said with a stern but still friendly tone. I looked at him and dropped my head … because I knew he wasn’t playing and I knew I had more to shoot.

After I come out of the pit, the security guard let me know that the time is the time and it’s a hard out at 3 songs . I was pissed but I understood. Then he let me know that just because I was done in the pit that Didn’t mean I couldn’t shoot anywhere else. I pulled my camera out and started to think where should I go next!!! I was running around that arena like Florida man was after me! The balcony, the middle of the vip section , even the sound board booth far off in the distance, the earth was my turf and for the better part of an hour I just kept snapping!

When I got back to my bar I had felt accomplished. It was a great opportunity to do that show and I was so appreciative. I went on to do other shows before COVID-19 said nah. But I plan to get back into it when the world opens up!
